In a word, Walthamstow - next to Epping Forest (5mins walk for me) 20

Better yet - Clapton. It's two stops inward from Walthamstow in the same
line, so it's faster to get to Liverpool Street (but you don't have the
tube, but on the other hand it's in zone 2), and you basically have the
same green space - it's a 5-minute walk from the station to the River Lea,
where there's a bridge leading into the bottom of Walthamstow Marsh. If
you want Epping Forest, just get on your bike - there's a cycle route from
the marsh. Alternatively, head north, and you can follow the Lea Valley as
far as your heart desires (eg to Waltham Abbey). Plus, Clapton's close to
Hackney and Stoke Newington, should you feel the need for something a bit
more lively and urban.

The only problem is that Clapton itself is a ********.
