Congratulations to Geoff: I know he's been after this for a while. His website (http://www.geofftech.co.uk/) details all his previous attempts. I think if someone's achieved their ambition, you shouldn't knock it. Wow! I'm on his website! http://www.geofftech.co.uk/tubechallenge/others.htm BTN |

If they're only doing the Paris Metro and not the RER, the area the network covers is substantially smaller. Wonder if anybody's ever bothered registering a record attempt on the Glasgow underground? :-) Sam |

Why? It's exercise... like ice-skating, but a lot more physically demanding and with more varied scenery. Anyway, respect to the guy - to beat it is something, but to beat it by 43 minutes! Wow. Just to correct you he did not beat it by 43 minutes he beat my record by 12 minutes, Evening Standard were given the wrong info so every one else gave the wrong info as well |

Did they confirm it? -- Richard J. (to e-mail me, swap uk and yon in address) |

Hi all,
now why didn't i spot this thread earier? someone only just tipped me off to it. Kat - we WERE hoping to make the last District back into town. we actually had a target of 18 hours 20 minutes, which would have got us to Upminster in time to get the 23.52 back into town. Sam - YES! you're on my website ... Steven - 'nuff said methinks on that one? and "sad" - LOL! - i've been called much much worse.. anyway, yes .. www.geofftech.co.uk/tubechallenge/ is where it's at. there's complete history of everyone (that i know) that have attempted it etc.. and a write up of all 7 attempts that it took me to knock this one on the head. I kinda feel like i've earned it you know ... :-) Cheers all, Geoff. "Annabel Smyth" wrote in message ... Oh, and Paris will be done next spring/easter. although Guinness don't
actually recognise this as an official record attempt. Somone else I know wrote to them, and they came back saying that they were only interested in London and New York. So once we've done Paris (just for the hell of it .. ), then it'll be time to head across the pond and do the NYS! double running tracks .. .24 hour operation .. what more could you want? :-) "Annabel Smyth" wrote in message ... There are several stations with the same name that are completely seperate from one another, and other stations with different names that are accessible from one another without coming to the surface, very different from the composite interchange stations that we're used to. And then you have the fast running lines that don't pass a platform surface when they go through the station - would travelling on a fast train through these stations count? And then there are the stations where the up and down platforms are effectively seperate stations, with no subterrain connection between the two. I don't think even I would want to travel on that system all day either! BTN |
