Beware engineering work: The National Rail journey planner is still offerring trains from Kings Cross Thameslink to Gatwick but the National Rail "Planned Engineering Works" page and the Thameslink leaflet both promise engineering work between Blackfriars and London Bridge with Gatwick trains starting from there. So, Northern Line Totteridge to London Bridge, then Thameslink, provided their trains run early enough (timetable seems not to be avilable yet). -- Peter Lawrence |

They are available on their website, see http://www.thameslink.co.uk/plan_you...metables.shtml for downloadable PDF files. I also have a paper one, picked up at Blackfriars. -- Terry Harper, Web Co-ordinator, The Omnibus Society 75th Anniversary 2004, see http://www.omnibussoc.org/75th.htm E-mail: URL: http://www.terry.harper.btinternet.co.uk/ |

With respect, that only gets the standard timetable. One needs to start at http://www.thameslink.co.uk/train_ru...erations.shtml for engineering work ones and they are not yet there for 17 Oct (or indeed for the previous weekend).. -- Peter Lawrence |

Its no fun but what's the alternative ? Cheerz, Baz |

So, Northern Line Totteridge to London Bridge, then Thameslink, provided their trains run early enough (timetable seems not to be avilable yet). Problem is not Thameslink but the Northern line. First train is 06.55 from Totteridge, a Charing Cross service eta Camden Town 07.19. Second is 07.10 arr 07.32. Trains leave Camden Town at 07.19, 07.26 and 07.32 arrive London Bridge 07.35, 07.42 and 07.48. The first is a Hampstead service (there is bus replacement on the Edgware branch, doubtless intended to be a connection with the first High Barnet but which may or may not be in practice), the second starts at Mill Hill East. the third High Barnet. The train you need to catch to get to Gatwick would normally leave London Bridge at 07.41, arrive Gatwick 08.20, but www.nationalrail.co.uk has this retimed to 07.40 (and every half hour). Even if Thameslink were running through from Kings Cross it wouldn't help as it leaves Kings Cross at 07.24, taking 17 minutes to London Bridge (the northern line takes just 11). I'm afraid there is also engineering work on the Southern which is why the journey planners are not listing the 07.45 from Victoria (the Gatwick Express is reduced to a half-hourly service at xx.00 and xx.30) and has been retimed to take 39 minutes instead of 35. You really wanted to know that, didn't you! |
