writes On the tube, why are there only a finite number of reasons for delays with very little explanation (and often different reasons at different stations)? Does anyone have a complete list? So far I've got: * Passenger action * Person under a train * Signal Failure * Failure of safety equipment * Late finish of engineering works * Earlier delays * Staff shortage There isn't a definitive list. I try to come up with the best factual reason based on the information I receive, without making it sound too technical. For example, nobody really needs to know that a block joint has failed ahead and we are proceeding under rule - a signal failure is quite adequate, but that could also cover a failing train stop, a failed green/red aspect and so on. -- Steve Fitzgerald has now left the building. writes "Person taken ill" on the Bak last night. This usually means someone fell onto the live rails and had to be scraped off before they could start the trains again. No, that would be a person under a train. Person taken ill is usually some drunk in a comatose state. -- Steve Fitzgerald has now left the building.
