Aylesbury North station is looking increasingly likely; Chiltern have been working on it for some time and Adrian Shooter (chairman of alluded to plans for it on the same model as Warwick Parkway, which Chiltern built themselves. A lot of new housing is going up close to the railway north of Aylesbury, so the potential for a station here (which would also act as a parkway station) is very good. What sort of track modifications does Chiltern envisage to support the new station? |

What sort of track modifications does Chiltern envisage to support the new station? Would there need to be any ? I understand its a single track line north of the station, and that would probably be fine for anything up to an every 20 minute service, with gaps in the service to take account for the "binliner" trains and other freight that needs to run through. Plans may have since changed, but when the the first plans for the Aylesbury North station were made, I believe the plan was to have the Princes Risboro' - Aylesbury service extended to the station, rather than extending the Amersham line services. |

I strongly feel that the solution should be for LUL to operate the Uxbridge and Watford (Junction, ASAP) branches... snip When I was a child Bakerloo services ran to the Junction, and there were still a few peak hour services in the early seventies. I'm not suere why these stopped. Others have answered this question in relation to the Bakerloo, but it might help to point out that what Jack was referring to by the words "Junction ASAP" is the Croxley Link proposal, which will allow Met line trains to access Watford Junction from Rickmansworth. In particular this would be useful for links from the north-western outer suburbs (both north and south of Rickmansworth) to connect with the WCML at Watford Junction and avoid having to go via London. This one has been around for years. Any progress recently? Somewhat - TfL and Herts CC came to an agreement over funding which sees TfL providing £18m from their ten-year plan funds, but they're still waiting for some remaining funding from the DfT. The project "only" costs £65m so hopefully that won't be too hard to secure. Then Herts CC & LUL should put in a Transport & Works Act order, and if it gets approved (hopefully by 2007) then trains could be running in 2010. http://www.alwaystouchout.com/project/28 http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tube/company/p...ley-rail-link/ -- Dave Arquati Imperial College, SW7 www.alwaystouchout.com - Transport projects in London |

![]() "Charles Ellson" wrote in message ... The line was originally double track. It might be simpler to add a second dead-end (and operationally separate) single line to serve any station(s) north of, and close to, Aylesbury. There is already a goods loop that runs from north of Aylesbury station to a ground frame just beyond Griffin Way overbridge. Beyond there the former up trackbed has been converted to a cess path. Extension of the loop towards Aylesbury North would be quite feasible, at least to beyond the town boundary (beyond there some of the bridges may need some serious attention). Whether there is a need to double as far as Aylesbury North itself is a moot point. |
