Used to take those routes extensively when I was living in Kingston (89 to Putney and then either a 14 or 22 to Picadilly Circus) rather than take the train to Waterloo and go by underground. There was much talk between conducters and various members of the public around February/March time about this and some of the conducters are becoming drivers, some (I think) are being made redundant and others are simply retiring. M. Martyn Drake http://www.drake.org.uk http://www.ourlittleduckling.com I have read this post with much nostalgia. I remember converting from RTs to RMs while still at Elmers End garage (sadly no longer there) and driving RMs at that depot, and then at Walworth and finally at Sidcup. A great vehicle - almost as good as the RT !! (Almost!) Dave G |
