![]() On all printed publicity for underground and buses, the phrase 'Mayor of London' is shown. Why is the ON at the end on LONDON always in red whilst the rest of the text is in blue? Dave |

It's the GLA's logo. Have a look around http://www.london.gov.uk/ for examples. -- James Farrar September's coming soon |

Yes, it's pretty daft to have the "ON" in a differnet colour to the "LOND". It's not even consistent: the "ON" at the top of the page is in red whereas at the foot of the page there's a logo for London Development Agency where "ON" is in green. Still, it gives the image consultants something to make them feel important! |

I think this was an initiative by London Tourist Board / Visit London after the 9/11 terrorist attacks - to emphasise the point that London was "On" by which I guess they meant "We're open for business as normal". It seems to have stuck ever since. -- Ant |

... Pretend the OP asked, "In the GLA logo, Why is the ON at the end on LONDON always in red whilst the rest of the text is in blue?" I first saw it in a GLA advert where there were lots of words ending in ON, and they were coloured to draw attention to the rhyme. I can't remember the words, it was something like "morON - prisON - londON!" -- John Rowland - Spamtrapped Transport Plans for the London Area, updated 2001 http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Acro...69/tpftla.html A man's vehicle is a symbol of his manhood. That's why my vehicle's the Piccadilly Line - It's the size of a county and it comes every two and a half minutes |

Blokes on coke AKA image consultants convinced the GLA it was worth several million. Pretend the OP asked "Why O2" "Why Consignia" Just don't expect an answer you will be happy with. |
