Quite. But the particular point being responded to was that it should be possible to nominate a day in advance for a weekly capping calculation to be made. If you were able to nominate such a day then you must already know that a weekly travelcard will be more cost effective for that week. So you might as well just buy one. Such an upgrade to Oyster wouldn't actually have gained you anything. What I was trying to say is that in order to make the database calculations easier, I could nominate that the Weekly Cap assessment should be run every Sunday evening for example - so having no idea what travel I will undertake during the week, I could be safe in the knowledge that it didn't matter whether I purchased a weekly travelcard or not. I am willing to forgo the extra benefit that running the calculation on a Tuesday one week, and a Friday the following week might accrue, in order to have a basic Weekly Cap. So, I don't know at the start of the week whether a travelcard would be more cost effective, I just nominate a day for the Weekly Cap to be run. |
