Default Oyster Card Pre Pay Top Up

Hi, late last week I realised my pre-pay oyster card was getting low
(90p left) so I decided to top it up. Usually I use the touch-screen
terminals in underground stations, but I was in a rush and saw there
was a top-up terminal in a newsagents. After leaving my card on the
circular blue reader whilst I paid, he gave me the following receipt:

---------------------------
Tfl ticket outlet

Add Pre Pay
18/10/05

TOTAL 10.00
CASH 10.00

Oyster Crd 123123123 12

Please keep this receipt
You may need to quote yo
Oyster card number if yo
www.tfl.gov.uk/oyster

18/10/05 12:23

12345 12345 12
---------------------------

(the truncated text in the middle is how it was printed on the receipt,
I presume the words are 'you'/'your'.)

I logged into the Oyster website at tfl.org and it still says I have
only 90p, not 10.90. Do I need to wait longer for the money to register
or do I need to do something more to validate it or something?

Thanks in advance

So how long did you leave between buying the top-up and checking
on-line?

Did the card function? Presumably you topped-up at the newsagent
instead of on-line because you had an imminent journey to make?

Why not auto top-up? You might even still be in line for the £10
bonus. Anyone know if the quota's run out yet?

I topped up in the newsagents two days ago (see date/time in receipt)
and
checked on-line a few hours later and the website said my credit was
still
9p. Since this was less than the 24 hours the website said it might
take to
register the credit I thought nothing of it and bought a 1.20 ticket
for the bus.
Today I checked the website again and it still says 9p, and this is
nearly 48
hours since I topped-up in the newsagents.

I will do in future, I was just wondering how long it would take for my
credit
to show up.

It probably HAS shown up on the card, which is what matters. The
reader on the 'bus looks at the card. It doesn't log on to a central
computer system.

I got the £10 discount two days ago. The quota is now 20,000 (was
10,000 initially).

The Oyster Card system is asynchronous. The only place to get your most
up to date balance is from the card itself.

When you check your balance online you get the last balance that has
been communicated from the card via a barrier or validator back to the
main system.
