No, but it will be hell living there, and travelling to and
from there, during the Olympics.

The Olympics will only last for 3 weeks - if you don't want to
be near it then it would be a great time for a holiday, but
surely not a reason to move house.Obviously if you're close
to the construction traffic then the problem might be longer
term, but that would be a reason to get out now, not in 2012
when all the hassle's over.

They are only on for two weeks. Every sensible local resident will rent
their house out and take a holiday. No need to move away!

Yes, but should get an easy market value+25% if it's subject to a CPO, and
if you ask the right people and buy in an area near all the action, but not
affected by the building work, it should increase a fair bit in value.
Trouble is, it probably will have done already by now.....

It does show why there's so much congestion though - in a situation like
that there's very little benefit to getting the train. Though if I lived
somewhere like Twyford, I'd seriously consider living close to the station -
somewhere within 2-3 minutes' walk of the station. Ok, you've got the
noise, but there's double glazing, and IMHO it'd be outweighed by the
convenience of it.

10 minutes to the tube at Paddington? You're talking Hammersmith + City
line right? Surely you be almost as well walking down to Lancaster Gate
tube station, wouldn't you? Only 3 stops from Shepherd's Bush (well 4 if
you count Queensway, but that's shut at the moment). And surely if you were
doing it regularly it'd be worth popping in at the weekend when quiet and
getting tickets in advance, no?

I see your point entirely though. It's a shame there's no quick service
from Twyford outside of the rush hour (or to Twyford at any time, I don't
think).

Have you seen how long the train takes from Waterloo to Bracknell - it's
about an hour, plus quite a long time on the tube.

Considering the M25 southern section runs reasonably well west-east
(clockwise) in the morning to Dartford (much better than the other
direction), then staying in Woking would probably be best. OK, your commute
is about an hour and a half. Maybe you could move round a bit to Reigate to
even it out.

Better still - one of you change jobs. As things stand, one or even both of
you will be driven mad by the commute.
