There is a lot more information that has been provided to members of the related Yahoo forum, even so, it is very doubtful that the News Section will every appear again in the format that was so appreciated by very many tram enthusiasts. Isn't it a sad reflection of life today in what is supposedly an enviroment that we can ask questions on almost anything and have a right to a response? David Bradey I am not au fait with the Yahoo group in question, could you enlighten me as to what it's called? I agree completely with your sentiments. I guess it shows the power of the web - the fact that Bombardier were concerned about the bad impression an enthusiasts website might create for those whom may be considering buying trams at least suggests that transport authorities/tramway operating consortia do their research about tram makes and models from a wide variety of sources before placing a multimillion order. Anyway, my impression was that Stephen's site was/is broadly positive about the Cologne model trams that were chosen for Tramlink. One last (and rather obvious) thought - if potential customers (in the form of city transport authorities or tramway operators) look at enthusiasts websites, then surely many of them will also be able to read the criticism of Bombardier both here on usenet and in other internet forums, criticism which has been created by their heavy handed approach to Stephen and his website. |

Now that's an interesting thought that your humble enthusiast can make a difference to shape the transport infrastructure of the future, I think I need to plug my website www.tfwl.org.uk and the sit back for the desired improvements that are sought! I have a vague interest in sound mirrors, big concrete things built on the south and east coast from WWI to the 1930s, before radar came along and made them spectacularly obsolete: http://www.southdown-amateur-radio-s...d_mirrors.html I recently had an email from someone claiming to want me to bid to supply some of this early warning technology to the Bangladesh navy. Snag is, the ones I've see are things like 200' long concrete walls, which were at their limits with the enemy aeroplanes of the 1930s... -- Arthur Figgis Surrey, UK |

While guiding in a property in the Midlands, a member of the property staff came over and asked me to clarify and explain some features of their property's mediaeval roof for them! I was very flattered but their faith was a complete mystery to me. In Clive's case, though, I'm sure it was perfectly intentional and valid! -- Ian Jelf, MITG Birmingham, UK Registered Blue Badge Tourist Guide for London and the Heart of England http://www.bluebadge.demon.co.uk |

IRTA "radio controlled codpieces", I don't know why ... Oh yes, that was another one of the CIA's schemes to discredit Castro. A friend of mine, when we were undergraduates together, was emailed by some textbook authors to ask if they could use one of his essays, which he'd posted online, in their book. The only things i've been emailed about are the manufacture of fig liqueur and computer simulation of zombie apocalypses, but in both cases, it was by people with information to add to stuff i'd written. tom -- Socialism - straight in the mainline! |
