I live about 10 mins from this site!
Very interesting article by the way! Be glad once this complex gets move on seems to be taking forever!! Can see the work from my window! Fraser "Dave Arquati" wrote in message ... Then the platforms could be extended for 8 cars. Is there a plan om the web showing where Shepherds Bush station will be? My impression is that there is no room for any platforms, let alone 8 car ones, at the obvious location. Nothing particularly good; the only thing I can find is this, and I think it's quite old: http://www.subbrit.org.uk/sb-sites/s...e_road_new.gif I think that where it says "Southern M41 footbridge" it means the subway instead. The subway needs to be filled in (and will be replaced by a surface pedestrian crossing, as on the eastern and southern arms of the roundabout) and the access ramp removed to make way for the southbound platform, which I believe extends from there northwards. The northbound platform will be in a similar position, and there is less constraint on land there - the embankment can be moved back fairly easily as it adjoins the shopping centre construction site. -- Dave Arquati Imperial College, SW7 www.alwaystouchout.com - Transport projects in London |

They might be doing 50 as they come off the roundabout though. I suppose... but usually they are either held at the lights on the western arm, or there is a queue of traffic at the northern arm so they have to negotiate their way around that. The remaining speeders are the ******* who tear past the tube station when they see a green (or amber) light at the roundabout. Of course, potentially when the shopping centre opens there will be big queues of traffic down the slip road and back to the roundabout! I did hear plans to turn the roundabout into a crossroads to make it a bit more pedestrian and cycle friendly, but I don't think they were particularly serious plans (the water main tower is in the way for a start). I use the current subway virtually every day, and I have mixed feelings about changing it to a surface crossing - the subway isn't very pleasant, but then the possibility of drivers racing off the roundabout as you suggest and not seeing the pedestrian crossing signal is a bit worrying. -- Dave Arquati Imperial College, SW7 www.alwaystouchout.com - Transport projects in London |
