True but A suffixes have since been applied for re-registration of
all vehicles from 1957 to 1963. In London application of B suffixes
only started part way through 1964.

As I recall, those that ran out of reversed registrations started on
"B" at that point, and then everybody switched when the "C" year
began.

If you say so. I thought everyone switched during the "B" year.

Some authorities were still on 2-letter forward registrations at that
stage. At least a couple of the Welsh counties were.

And some Scots surely?
