I believe it is unlawful to **** a moron since they cannot give
consent.

A quick trip to Argos or Asda will show that's a law more honoured in the
breach than the observance.

Had a run in with a nice employee of Arriva this morning who called me
a ****ing moron because I didn't know that PSV drivers aren't allowed
to reverse. Now I am not an expert on the law regarding PSV drivers so
can somebody confirm that it is a fact that they are not allowed to
reverse. Seems bonkers to me.
Whether thay can or can't reverse I take it that they can't call
members of the public ****ing morons or threaten to punch them in the
face.

Kevin

Strictly speaking, you are not allowed to reverse a PCV carrying passengers
unless instructed to do so by a police officer, or where such a movement has
been sanctioned by the Traffic Commissioners as part of the route
description. (An example was the 184 route out of Cambridge which reversed
to turn round at Cottenham Church prior to continuing to Rampton, also the
many places where a bus reverses off a stand in a bus station)

Having said that, a sensible bus driver would not get himeslf into a
position where he was obliged to reverse if he could help it. Sometimes it
is unavoidable - I once reversed a bendybus in Shirley High Street to turn
it around following an accident that had occurred fifty yards ahead. (Either
that, or stand and stew for an hour!!)

It is also unwise for any bus driver to "win" any verbal battle with a prat
in a car; for the prat then goes and reports the bus driver to his
company..... and the bus driver is ALWAYS in the wrong, regardless of the
facts of the case.

[ cut - just like all the first buses theother day when the Duty Inspector

Sorry if he was rude or threatening. Not a good idea as passengers tend to
report such things. It can, I'm told be quite stressful driving a bus. I
found it the opposite. Getting the bus through Moretonhampstead on a
market day in Summer was like this super game of chess with dozens of
players, plus the joy of solving this 3D dynamic jigsaw puzzle, whilst
allowing for the massive overhang on the back of the bus. I really felt
like turning the bus round and going through again - just for the fun of
it..

Try Lymington High Street with the open-topper WITH pushbike trailer on
Market Day (Saturdays....)!!

The guy actually drove past a gap in parked cars that he could have
pulled into to allow me to proceed without the need to reverse myself.
Reversing is clearly hazardous even for a car driver.
I'm not surprised that driving a bus is stressful if you go around
telling other road users that they are ****ing morons. I understand
that they are short of drivers but Arriva really dragging the barrel
getting their current drivers.

Kevin

There are Bus Drivers and Busmen. There IS a difference.

on whose side of the road was the obstruction that prevented you from
passing each other in the carriageway?

That doesn't always matter. Once a bus IS on the "wrong" side of the road
passing an obstruction. then ANY vehicle going the other way has to stop and
wait for it to complete the pass and get back on its own side. There is a
difference between "Right Of Way" and "Priority".
