Dear fellow London commuters
I am a London commuter, and also know a bit about web design, so have decided to put the two together and come up with an area on my website where I record events, stories, and images from my daily journey into Docklands. I have made it possible for everyone to post their own stories too, so everyone is welcome to just drop a message or a photo here. There are a few tube related blogs around, but most of them do not allow visitors to post new articles. I have also include a Tube route finder with integrated Google maps, which some people might find useful. You can also use the route finder to subscribe to the communities for the stations along your daily journey. The URL is http://www.ok2life.com/. I have only just started so will take a bit of time to build up articles and images, so look forward to seeing new visitors. Do send me suggestions on anything else you think I can do to improve the site's usefullness, like live chat, perhaps. Regards David |

How about having a bit about the aims and purpose of the site on the front page? -- loobyloo Flat 978, The Old Lard Factory, Lancaster http://loobynet.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------------ People who go about treading on others' toes are peculiarly unaware of what it is like to be trodden on, so that they are naturally much surprised when it happens to themselves. I had a page labelled "Mission Statement" on the left hand menu, did not want to make it the front page as the content is rather static. I thought maybe visitors want to see the front page changing as new articles are posted, does this make sense ? Regards David |

You are right, the actual URL without frameset is http://public.ok2life.com/, but I thought www is a bit more familiar to people. Will switch to a new DNS provider in the near future, once I have more time. Thanks for the suggestions. Regards David |

It doesn't seem to be a widely documented convention, nor one that is used often, hence my puzzlement. I've never heard of it either and I've been mooching around Usenet for years. I guess geeky people (i.e. myself) live in a world of their own and after a while they think it is the norm with the outside world :-) To prove that this convention actually exists, you can look at, for example, comp.lang.java.announce, or any other newsgroups with "announce" in it, to see what I mean.
