....who wants one? Pound a go. They're robust and fit in your wallet. If you've got one of those windows in your wallet, you can view the tube map without even taking the card out. Yes, you can get maps for free from LT, but they're not credit card sized. Just getting an idea for demand...if there's enough interest, they'll be ready in August this year. The tube map in my wallet was free from LT and it is credit card size, so why would I pay for a new one? Matthew |

writes And why in these circumstances do you need a map at all. If your're in London there one on the wall of every tube station and if you're not well what is the map for? This all reminds me of seeing a tramp selling those free small tube guides to Japanese and Chinese tourists. Very amusing. And before anyone asked why I didn't step in and point out to the tourists they were free. Two L.U. Uniformed station assistants were watching too. I thought if they couldn't care a less it would be morally wrong for me to. -- CJG |

To make a credit card sized tube map: Take a normal, free Tube map available at most stations. Fold it up until it is the size of a credit card. Voila. Though it'd work better with one printed on paper rather than card - e.g from last year's diary. Colin McKenzie |

Thanks for the great feedback.
![]() comments. These cards are really aimed at unfortunates like myself and, it sounds like, Cal, that require a reminder now and then where they're going. I've already got one of these cards, and I find it very handy. Have you tried getting close to a tube map at rush hour in a busy tube station? It's a pain. In some of the quieter stations it's difficult to even find a map, and the trains sometimes only have maps of the line your on. And if you've been out partying the network can be even more confusing. LT obviously think there's a requirement for handy tube maps as they give them out free (well, you pay for them via your fare). A few people have asked me where they can get a credit card sized map, but you can't get them from LT. Well, you can, but there's too much info on the LT version and you have to unfold them before use. LT are aware of my plans and discussions re licensing have taken place. The maps I'm planning to produce will have the central zones on one side. The other side is blank at the moment, and suggestions are welcome. Yes, it is a bit small, but if you can't read it, you probably should get to an opticians. I'll keep you posted on my progress, and if you have any more to add to the discussion please do. |

(1) because people (like my Mum) already pay £1-£2 in WH Smiths for a credit-card sized calendar each December. (2) because then they will keep buying it year after year. Mind you now I'm wondering why the people who make the calendar card don't already put the tube map on their reverse side, for London anyway. Maybe the tube map is too expensive to licence (as another poster alluded to). I want a free one in return for my suggestions BTW! |

Seeing as the back won't be readable through the wallet "window", I'd
suggest you try to advertising sponsorship. There's probably room for 3 or 4 companies to get their logos in there as "sponsors". You might even get them to buy heaps from you and give them away.
