Just wondering if anyone had access to the fares manual -

I've got a Z1-6 travelcard, and would like to know how much it costs to
get an extension for a trip (both single and return) on the Gatwick
Express.

AFAICT, you can't. GatEx is not part of the Travelcard scheme,
therefore doesn't receive any money from Travelcard sales, and
therefore doesn't let you buy zone-boundary tickets from Travelcards
[1].

On the other hand, you should be able to get an extension to travel on
Southern or FCC.

[1] it's just about possible that this applies only to ODTCs not period
TCs, but I think it applies to all.
