Not sure about tax use (would it make more sense to ask for a receipt
on purchasing the book in the first place?) but a Saver book does
leave you with a book of "receipts", as you only tear off and give the
driver part of the ticket.

The way I understand it works in an inspection is that the inspectors
get the stubs from the driver and so can see who actually handed them
in on boarding, and who's trying it on.
