No idea what it is these days for Out of Station Interchanges (OSI) for PAYG. It used to be something like 30 minutes for magnetic tickets but that could vary by OSI to reflect longer interchange times. I suspect it may be overridden by the 2 hour maximum journey time limit. I believe it is 15 minutes. It might vary depending on the interchange, though. In particular, the ones that involve a change onto NR could easily take more than 15 minutes, as that's often shorter than the gap between trains. I'm a smoker and am now using PAYG. I often do long journeys on the Jubilee to the other, so it's good to know that I can get off at Waterloo for a quick fag without being charged for two journeys. Probably only if you change from the Jubilee to the W&C or vice versa. I'm not sure you can just get back on the Jubilee without being charged for 2 journeys. Any other stations where this is possible? I guess Kings Cross/St Pancreas would be one. It used to be, but a direct interchange has now been opened between the lines (avoiding the barriers), so it may have been removed. King's Cross (LU or Thameslink) to King's Cross (Great Northern, i.e. NR services to Finsbury Park) should still be one, though. Any more? This is something of an FAQ. Here's a list off the top of my head (some are slightly speculative and these are noted): Hammersmith (District/Piccadilly - Hammersmith & City) Marylebone (LU - NR) Baker Street - Marylebone (NR) Euston (Tube - NR) Euston Square - Euston (NR or Tube) (unconfirmed) Liverpool Street (LU - NR) Tower Hill - Fenchurch Street Aldgate - Fenchurch Street Tower Hill - Tower Gateway Bow Road - Bow Church London Bridge (Thameslink - LU) (unconfirmed) |

As long as I am back on the system within 15 minutes, I guess, which is totally doable if I smoke quickly enough. Any other stations where this is possible? I guess Kings Cross/St Pancreas would be one. Any more? If you are getting off the Jubilee Line and then back on the Jubilee again then I think you would be charged for two journeys. The out of station interchange would only apply if you were changing to/from the Waterloo & City line. Peter Smyth |

If Bow Road - Bow Church is one, then I imagine Shadwell must be one too. Do I take it that if someone has a paper ticket, the machine won't retain it if you come out at Bow Road then? As there will be people who would perhaps want to go from Mile End to Canary Wharf (for argument's sake) and choose to change at Bow Road.... |
