Now he can breed more scum Everyone at work said the same and I was carrying a hefty umbrella. But when it happens you realise no one else is aware of what happened and you're going to be bashing the crap out of a stranger with no apparent motive. But presumably you made the police aware of what had happened by reporting the incident -- Bob |

writes I have lived in East London for nearly 20 years and the closest I've come to being mugged was in Spalding, Lincolnshire on a visit to my childhood home area!!!! I've heard a few mugging stories and many seem to consist of a large drunk asking for a pound in an aggressive manner. Hell, in North London that's considered polite behaviour :-) I feel safe on the streets of London, I feel sage on the NLL, I just get really angry when people try to steal my hard earned cash. -- Edward Cowling "Must Go - Tony Blair says he's not going !" |

A lone officer who was told it was a car theft ! As I'd lost nothing I decided life was too short to fill in pointless forms on the Transport Police website. What action do you think they would take ? Tick another box on this months statistics ? Sadly we're living in an age where we have to look after each other. -- Edward Cowling "Must Go - For He Is The Kwisatz Haderach" |

Round my way, the police hardly turn up, just give you a crime number for the insurance. However, without fail, a civilian forensics technician will visit the scene of the crime and, of course, wonders do they perform. The reality is that those already known to the police and fully inserted on the DNA database commit most of the crime. People in that situation can't so much as fart in a lift anymore and get away with it. The problem isn't catching them the problem is what to do with them, as invariably drugs will be playing a large part in their behaviour. My magistrate neighbour had some thirty something bloke up before her the other day for a stealing a 99p pack of bacon from the convenience store. As she said, "What am I supposed to do with them? Here he is thirty something and he can't even steal a pack of bacon without getting caught, it's pathetic." Drug addicts are out of control in need of treatment but there is precious little treatment to be had and neither will there be, or probably should there be, whilst there are waiting lists for hip operations. If it's any consolation to you and assuming he was on drugs then he will surely pay a far higher price eventually (pretty soon usually) than anything the law can throw at him. |

Thinking about it he was far scruffier than if he was going on a building site for the day and his face was covered in spots. Perhaps this is his way of feeding a habit. Personally I'd like to see all drugs dreciminalised for adult use. It would stop the crooks making fortunes, and stop people needing to steal quite so much to afford them. -- Edward Cowling "Must Go - Tony Blair says he's not going !" |
