![]() I notice that one small part of this project has now happened - there is now a new, devious, subway from the northern end of the Picc platforms leading to the existing route to the Vic and TL platforms. The old subway is closed off. Obviously this has been done to allow the route from the new ticket hall to the Picc and other platforms to be constructed but the new subway is part of the final plan. -- Peter Lawrence |

I noticed this the other day, haven't had a look yet though. I assume the subway joins the exsisting tunnel further down? What is happening to the Thameslink tunnel once Thameslink move in a few weeks? |

All the published closure info refers to it being a decision for LU, because its their tunnel, not NR's IIRC. Paul |

LU take over the Pentonville Road entrance and staff it as it is a secondary means of escape until the Northern ticket hall is opened, at the very earliest. |

What is happening to the Thameslink tunnel once Thameslink move in a few weeks? LU take over the Pentonville Road entrance and staff it as it is a secondary means of escape until the Northern ticket hall is opened, at the very earliest. I would guess it has a long term future serving local residents and workers; there will be more of the latter as the area become regenerated.. -- Peter Lawrence |

I'd rather hope it will stay open: it's the closest entrance to the tube for me, and the quickest way to the Picc and Vic lines. Jonn |

More to the point , why has it been closed off? Why not just have 2 tunnels to lessen the crowding at platform level? B2003 |

It seems a bit strange to dig a completely new tunnel that you are going to abandon in a couple of years - will it have any purpose when the new entrance opens? |
