Is this the only station with more than one company operating a ticket
office (excluding the Eurostar ticket office for a moment)?

Just next door at Kings Cross, shirley?

I thought there was only one office there, in the Travel Centre? Where is
there another office?

Doh! Of course. HT and GC also sell on the train. I wonder if that'll be
the SET scheme on the not-Javelin?

Having been prompted, there's a pair of FCC ticket windows just
"outdoors" [1] from the KX Suburban platforms.

[1] It was really outdoors until a couple of years ago, but I think
they've built a bit of a shelter round it now.

The old WAGN, now FCC one, by the suburban platforms. That is very much
an alternative location to avoid the need for detours to the main travel
centre. You can buy FCC tickets in the TC can't you?

Bought tickets from there the other day to New Barnet. Although it is
FCC, the credit card bill is from NXEC.

Ah, yes. It looks as if they need to update
http://www.networkrail.co.uk/aspx/867.aspx#facilities, as it talks only of
machines there, but the map at
http://www.networkrail.co.uk/documen...KingsCross.pdf does seem to
show the other office.

Bizarre - coz it is most definitely staffed and run as an FCC ticket
office...

Highly unlikely, as the rest of their franchise is very much gates and
penalty fares isn't it?

Doesn't Gatwick Express operate a small ticket office at Victoria, as well
as the main ticket office run by Southern?

I was wondering about that, but I think they do ticket sales on the
train now. Does HEx have a separate ticket office at Paddington?

Of course, neither is strictly comparable to the twin FCC/EMT ticket
offices at StP.

Despite on-train sales, Heathrow Express nonetheless has a separate
ticket office at Paddington - tickets purchased from the ticket office
are cheaper than those bought on-train, and fares bought in advance
online for collection from the ticket machine are even cheaper (you
need to specify the day of the outbound journey) - see:

https://www.heathrowexpress.com/content.asp?pageid=30

One must go to the HEx ticket office for a number of other tickets as
well, such as for Railcard-descounted tickets and to purchase a HEx
Carnet of 12 tickets (for the price of 11).

Gatwick Express also runs a ticket office, though AFAIAA you can still
buy tickets on-board (though the website is silent on this), and the
website doesn't show any saving for buying beforehand or requirement
to for Railcard holders to buy from the ticket office.

Stansted Express used to have a separate ticket desk on the concourse
at Liverpool Street, but that was closed a couple (?) of years ago. Of
course Liverpool Street used to have a separate ticket office for
Anglia Railways as well, which is now closed.

At Euston there's both Virgin Trains and London Midland ticket offices
- the London Midland ticket office is down the slope next to the
gateline to the suburban platforms.

And as has already been pointed out there's both NXEC & FCC at Kings
Cross (unless we're also counting the separate HEx and GatEx at
Paddington and Victoria).

And whilst Victoria's ticket office is run by Southern, it does have
both Southern and Southeastern ticket machines on the concourse - they
are each on their respective side of the station (i.e. Brighton side
and Chatham side). Nor does Southeastern have a ticket office at
Waterloo East either, but again has its own ticket machines there too.

This is all excluding London Underground of course - but at Tottenham
Hale there is a 'one' railway ticket window (branded 'Stansted
Expresss') right next to the LU ticket window, and at Stratford - an
LU station - there is are separate 'one' railway ticket windows too. I
can't immediately think of any other similar examples at shared NR/LU
stations.
