... Being keen to see the new station, I travelled today from there and it was another 317 (Moorgate) train. The LCD displays were seriously messed up, showing the first train as 0900, due 0905 and the second train due at 0904! Obviously the second train didn't overtake, and didn't arrive before the first one!! I think they've got some work to do there. Yup, they were doing something similar at about 1830 last night. I also noticed that the displays don't say whether the next train will be 4 cars or 8 - the displays at KX TL did. Presumably in some unattainable nirvana somewhere in FCC-land, all trains are 12 cars, so such a facility on the displays is unnecessary. -- Garry Smith |

And this morning it was also somewhat confusing! 08:44 Moorgate - due 09:05 08:52 Wimbledon - due 08:58 08:56 Sutton - due 09:08 09:00 Moorgate - due 09:04 09:04 Brighton - due 09:04 Did FCC adjust the timetable to take into account the longer/shorter time to arrive at StP? And, have they made the necessary changes to the infrastructure to report on the arrival times for the screens? I also noticed that the displays don't say whether the next train will be 4 cars or 8 - the displays at KX TL did. This is stupid. I don't think they state the location of first class anymore either. Southbound St Pancras International departure times seem to be one minute earlier than the former Kings Cross Thameslink times. Northbound the former Kings Cross Thameslink times are used unchangedf. But since all the FCC TL trains are DOO the driver will always stop by the signs that say 'S car stop' (on both platforms - one sign for each), which themselves are adjacent to the DOO screens (again one set of screens for each platform - I've noticed that they broadcast full-colour DOO feed, rather than black and white which is the norm). What I'm personally more annoyed about are the new gates - at the moment you have to shove your (paper) ticket through the slot, and the flaps themselves are so slow they make it easier for tailgaters to pass through behind someone else (compared to the other two sets of gates on the LU network anyway). |

The gates are shockingly slow, just like those in use throughout King's Cross. I don't like them one bit (about 10 people can pass through with you) but for the sake of Paul C's sanity, I won't start ranting about them again!! One thing I will say; at the FCC stations that have only put in a few gates, they're so slow that during busy periods they're forced to press the 'plunger' to open them up and let people through. This sort of defeats the object, in my opinion. Jonathan |

I reckon, though, that commuter services would carry very few fare-dodgers, as most will have season tickets. Neil -- Neil Williams Put my first name before the at to reply. |

When First took over the GN side, they were checking on peak trains and catching lots of people - especially people who assumed the RPIs wouldn't squeeze through busy carriages. Once they started to man stations, it seems the message got through. Now when they grip on busy trains, almost everyone as a ticket. In fact, the only real issue is people sitting in first class on trains that aren't declassified. Jonathan |

I also noted that there are 13 automatic gates at the entrance/exit (11 narrow, 2 wide). |

"zones 2" means a 4-car train. "zones 2,3" means 8-car. I'm sure they didn't have that earlier in the week. And am I the only one who finds the floor through the main station and into the FCC station very slippery? Have to ask Father Xmas for some new soles :-) -- Garry Smith |
