Though with National Express a Cambridge - Heathrow return costs £33, whilst an open return costs £35 (you need to ring them beforehand to confirm your return journey so they allocate a seat for you). I don't think you have to allocate a seat. I have never done this in many Cambridge-Stansted coach trips. If the coach were full, though, I'd be in trouble. Has never happened. -- Michael Hoffman |

I jest of course, I know what you mean! ;-) Of course it wasn't my intention to suggest that a child-on-tow is akin to a bag of gold bars, not least because I'm sure your grandchild is priceless. :-) When it comes to thinking about public transport I'm always pretty careful to consider those who're less able to hop, skip and jump around, which is a category to which a very wide range of people come under. Certainly if anyone was wishing to travel with small child from Cambridge to the airport then the direct coach would be the method of choice. |

It's probably not an option for Colin, but in general it can be considerably cheaper to do Cambridge-Victoria and Victoria-Heathrow instead of the direct bus, especially if there are 1 pound Funfares available on the Cambridge leg. If the connections work out it's not a lot slower either. ISTR doing it for a total of a fiver each way in the summer. Theo |

Dreadful idea - I'll be working lates that day so you might never get there ![]() Seriously, just over an hour to Heathrow; I can't see there being too many problems parking and it's fairly handy for the M25. Do they charge at CFS on Boxing day then? Are you sure? I thought it was over an hour from King's Cross to Heathrow last time I went there. As it happens I need to call in in Westminster on my way home so I think I will either drive all the way to the airport and drop off or park at Hounslow West and travel on the tube. -- Colin Rosenstiel |
