I take it that you've never actually tried to use a modern ticket machine then. You're lucky. Trust me, they're a _lot_ more complex than a chocolate vending machine. At least the NR ones at my local station are. I assume the TfL ones are just as bad. Assumption, the mother of all f**k-ups. I've personally got no problems with NR machines, but I accept they're necessarily complicated. TfL machines are not. -- John Band john at johnband dot org www.johnband.org |

When I was at Green Park with a queue building up behind me, there was
in fact a supervisor hanging around the machines helping people work them. Yes, actually I will give West Hampstead some credit there. The member of staff on the gate line was going down the queue asking what was needed, and taking them to the machine and operating it for them when it could be done there. Best Wishes, LEWIS |

I went to Turnpike Lane today, and it all worked just fine. The guy knew what I was talking about and put the cap on my existing Oyster card. I did have to fill in the registration form again, even though it was an already registered card. Back on topic - got mine done at Northfields today; took less than a minute after confirming that my Oyster was already registered. ~cj |
