The sign I saw the other day implied that it was due to accessibility issues. I did wonder why the footbridge was built with only steps in this day and age. I wonder why did they close it completely then? I mean, you can build a ramp without closing the existing thing... And why the hell did they not think about that from the beginning? Then again, it's DLR - they got reasonably reliable (stinky dirty) trains, but everything else is rubbish. Rapidly deteriorating recently. I'm sure one of them is going to derail as it approaches Crossharbour from the south any day now. |

The sign I saw the other day implied that it was due to accessibility issues. I did wonder why the footbridge was built with only steps in this day and age. The sketches for the Stratford new platform 4 project (link below) clearly show a lift symbol at the platform 5 end, but for some reason it wasn't provided. The drawing also shows the exit along the line of the 'filled in' Platform 4 track, which obviously isn't what they built... http://developments.dlr.co.uk/pdf/fa...tation_enh.pdf Paul S |

![]() The sign I saw the other day implied that it was due to accessibility issues. I did wonder why the footbridge was built with only steps in this day and age. I finally wasn't in a hurry and got some time to read the poster - it says that it will be closed until early 2009 (!) because of works to build a new staircase for Stratford station. Not sure what that means, but I'm sure that closing the footbridge just 1.6 months after opening is a major **** up. My prediction - they will destroy the new footbridge and build a new one, which will span all platforms. |

It's probably the new staircase and lift down to the subway, shown here in pink: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloa...orm-Layout.pdf Presumably they want to minimise the number of people on the platform where the building work is. I think the new DLR station was planned anyway (and ran quite late) while the subway works are Olympics-related, which accounts for the poor timing. Don't put a bet on then - there is a new footbridge, but it's at the other end of the station... Mr Thant has linked to it so I won't repeat it here. Paul S |

So what's causing all these electrical issues? Or is it just a coincidence that there was trouble both this morning and this evening? Well it is allegedly the same train. And has been caused by a loose strap that was fitted as part of Tube Line's Line Upgrade causing a Traction Earth. |
