Is it possible (looking at the BBC's pic) that the bus driver was unaware of the meaning of the whitelines painted on the brickwork above the centre of the arch, or was he too high anyway? Although at 9am he probably wasn't the first bus along? Paul S |

Yup - the BBC site has an update including: A Transport for London (TfL) spokesperson said buses had been using the route under the arched bridge safely for 24 hours before the crash happened. The bus was diverted because of road closures. He said: "The route is a recognised diversion route and drivers know to drive straight through the middle." Paul S |

Good news! Phew, I got worried for a while! If it were to be NLL, I could easily imagine Overground being split in Camden, probably meaning no service to Stratford for months. Can't wait for the update in your blog! ;-) TfL are still reporting at 01:00 no trains Richmond-Stratford, Willesden J - Clapham J, Willesden J - Euston. National Rail site says that services to/from Euston resumed at 22:20. Maybe there was a story earlier about the bus/bridge bash? [Always pays to post a quote from sites that change all the time]. -- Roland Perry |

The Canal Market was probably the least visited and least important one. The tube station redevelopment is a long way south and gets rid of Buck Street Market, which is the most touristy one - mostly identical stalls telling t-shirts for edgy 14 year olds. The other markets are much more interesting. Got it. Not what I think normally of as part of the Camden Market at all, don't think I've even been in it. They could have burnt and redeveloped that bit all they liked ! Some day when I go there I will work out the layout. I tried Google but every site relating to Camden seemed overloaded ... (btw If you're a fan of TfL arson conspiracy theories, check this ranty one-note blog: http://opendalston.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html ) Thanks for the link. Getting OT for Camden Market but as a once-frequent visitor to the Four Aces and the Theatre Factory (both now R.I.P) I have a lot of sympathy with Opendalston's war against Hackney planning blight, even if not with all their conspiracy theories!
