Hi,
Are there any miniature train rides in London or within 50 miles of the city? Miniature as in mini steamer, or the kind you would ride at a carnival or a zoo. Fun for little kids but cramped and uncomfortable (yet fun!) for adults. Thanks, +- eMail is ok -- |

It is 3' 6" gauge, as many mainline railways in Africa are, and it has mainline "feel". You could see the elephants, hippos, etc while you are about it. A good day out! Michael Bell -- |

Ruislip Lido Railway. http://rlr.topcities.com/index.html A 12 inch gauge line, oil fired steam only on one of the weekend days, worth calling them to check when the steam loco is coming out. Diesel traction otherwise. John |

Beaconscott model village has an excellent fairly new small gauge railway,
in Beaconsfield, just a short walk from the railway station. BTS "Add Subtract" wrote in message ... Hi, Are there any miniature train rides in London or within 50 miles of the city? But it is an outdoor model railway, not a miniature upon which people can ride. One such is http://rlr.topcities.com/ An excellent line with a somewhat more interesting ride and a mix of steam (high days and holidays) and diesel. |

Sorry dude you're just plain wrong, they have a minature that you can ride
on, they extended it, they also have the model one that runs in the model village. http://www.bekonscot.org.uk/ BTS Come and take a trip on the Bekonscot Light Railway! Opened in 2001, this short narrow gauge line weaves its way behind the village, encircles a new garden, and returns after crossing the Pond Bridge. Built in unusual surroundings, the ride is fun for adults and children alike. The Bekonscot Light Railway runs at weekends and bank holidays throughout the season, as well as the summer dates shown below. There is a small extra charge for a ride; this is currently 50p per person, but under-2yr-olds ride for free. There's no need to book - trains depart about every 5 minutes. SUMMER 2002 WEEKDAY OPERATION : 17th July - 9th September. Regular service is provided by a pair of battery engines, hauling short trains around the circuit, which takes a couple of minutes. Over the next year, we aim to make it a high-quality, entertaining ride, adding new locomotives, new features to see during the journey, extend the running line slightly, and build an impressive new terminus station. After a successful first year of operation, we have now improved the queuing facilities. I think its in Yeading or somewhere Not sure what kind of trains they use. Whether its steam or electric. But seen it a few times from 140 bus going past. Harlington? Used to be one there years ago - went on it as a lad. -- Andrew Electronic communications can be altered and therefore the integrity of this communication can not be guaranteed.
