Why would the Fire Brigade object to the White City name, though? They don't like two stations having the same name. How do they cope with Hammersmith, Shadwell or Canary Wharf then? The same way that you cope with Planet Earth, despite not liking anything in it. You mean, somewhere on the internet there's a forum where firemen slag off Hammersmith for having two stations? Jonn |

Isn't it interesting how because I get hacked off with being ripped off on PAYG by LUL with its guilty until proved innocent approach to customers and 3rd world service and happen to complain about it on it , I must be some sort of misanthrope. Why not answer the question instead of making cheap potshots. B2003 |

No, it's because whatever TPTB do, you complain about them doing it, and whatever they don't do, you complain about them not doing it. I have noticed no consistency logical or financial in your multitude of stances, except that whatever happens, or whatever doesn't happen, you criticise. Why not answer the question instead of making cheap potshots. I did answer your question, but I answered it in a way which I found fun. After all, I don't come here to serve you, I come here to have fun. |

In article , () wrote: Given this new station on the H&C seems to be literally a stones throw from White City on the central , wouldn't it have made more sense to call it white city rather than having another daft Bank-Monument situation? An alternative view is that White City should be revert to its old name given that the stadium is long gone. Er.. White City (Central Line) opened as White City in 1947. What could it revert to? Are you thinking of the earlier H&C White City (ex Wood Lane) behind the BBC? Paul |

You might have a better chance of convincing me you're not talking out your arse if you could provide some examples. Why not answer the question instead of making cheap potshots. I did answer your question, but I answered it in a way which I found fun. I would suggest you update your dictionary since it obviously has a strange definition of answer. B2003 |

As they're two physically separate stations, it's more of a Bow Road / Bow Church situation. Or Hammersmith/Hammersmith? |

The White City station opened in 1947 was a rebuild, admittedly on a slightly different site, of Wood Lane station and is in Wood Lane. The old H&C White City was nearer the old Wood Lane than that White City and the new Wood Lane is nearer to White City station than the old White City H&C station was. My head's just exploded. |

Or Shepherds Bush/Shepherds Bush, or Paddington/Paddington, or Edgware Road/Edgware Road... Mind you, I still think they should go back to calling Charing Cross (Bakerloo) Trafalgar Square...But that'd create another Bank/Monument situation. ;-) Cheers, Barry |

Between the current Goldhawk Road(h) and Latimer Road(h), and Shepherds Bush(c) and White City(c) there have been 9 stations at various points of time. |
