And a rail-only season ticket MKC-London won't be valid south of
Harrow, without buying a Willesden-Clapham ticket before joining the
train.

Have you seen the number of stops?!

It's slower than changing trains! It's quicker even to travel most of
the way from MK to EC, change trains at Clapham Junction and get a fast
train from there to EC.

Wonder if it will be popular?

Doesn't matter, I have R1256.

If the connection works. If it doesn't, you're immediately an hour
later.

I suspect many will choose it over changing at Watford. Via London is
different as frequencies are far higher, but that's slower anyway and
hassle if you're going to, say, Gatwick with bags.

I'm not getting any through journeys on theTrainline quick timetable
for Olympia to Milton Keynes. (NRE hasn't got anything yet.)

I was wondering if this was because it was quicker to change. But
you'd still be changing to something that stopped at Watford Junction.

They're on NXEC.

If you don't put a via in, NXEC sends you via London in the new TT.
This is probably because VT will be doing Watford *or* MK but not
both, so there is no longer a fast service to Watford most of the
time.

From Milton Keynes to East Croydon it's 8 minutes quicker than the nearest
equivalent in the current timetable:
Milton Keynes d1113
Watford Junc a1154
(change)
Watford Junc d1211
East Croydon a1307
It looks as though the current hanging about at Clapham Junction (to ensure
a path on to the Down Slow, and then across to the Down Fast at Balham) will
disappear.

But would one actually need a Harrow & Wealdstone to Clapham Junction
ticket? This particular case does seem somewhat ambiguous - we know
that it's legit to combine a season ticket with a normal single or
return even when a train doesn't stop at a particular station, the
question here is whether the MKC to East Croydon via WLL service even
counts for these purposes as passing through Willesden Junction - the
geographic is that it doesn't pass through any platforms at Willesden
Junction and in fact uses the lines on the south side of the WCML
which are the furthest away from WJ station.

If one was to change at H&W onto a DC lines train to Willesden
Junction, then change there on to a WLL train to Clapham Junction then
this would unambiguously only require a WJ to CJ ticket - but I'm
interested in what the situation is with regards to the through
Southern service that doesn't stop or indeed even go through Willesden
Junction station.

Because it's not going to swap on to the Fast line whatsoever, right?
