Or re-double track routes that were made single line. An example from my own area would be the Lewes - Uckfield line. Redoing the West London Line, and it's various connections, to give a 10tph passenger service. OHEL down to Shepherds Bush to allow a change- over in station, but I guess that's not really re-opening or doubling What about freight? Also, no real point in moving the changeover point. The 378s entering service with LO, and the 377s in use with Southern can changeover on the move, so there is little advantage to be gained by putting up a short distance of extra wires, and as pointed out before now, there are additional costs involved in immunisation of the LU Hammersmith & City signalling if OHLE is extended southwards. Or DC northwards to wembley central perhaps The better solution methinks. |
