What were these stations, and did the deep-level trains run through or was there an interchange somewhere for trains of surface loading guage? Was this extenstion beyond H&W electrified? When did it close? Cheers - CJB. The Bakerloos used to run through to Watford Junction. *The fourth rail is not usable as such beyond Harrow and Wealdstone, but it's still there performing some electrical function which someone will explain in a minute. There have been a few changes. *They only used to go beyond Queens Park in the peaks, but went all the way to Watford. Later they were cut back to Stonebridge Park (I think possibly more than just the peaks; someone will confirm) which was where a new depot was built when the branch that gave access to Neasden became part of the Jubilee. For quite a few years now they've been running to Harrow and Wealdstone quite frequently and all day, so really the service is dramatically better than it was between Queens Park and Harrow (I think it had been four trains an hour from Euston). The platforms on the Watford DC lines were a compromise between tube height and surface height. I presume the Harrow and the ones south of Harrow still are. But, if the Bakerloo trains are to run north of Harrow again, my guess is that platform height might be a Health and Safety issue. |
