Definitely, the fact that legally speaking, Virgin don't operate trains between Watford and London, so boarding one that's physically there would risk getting you charged the full single fare from Preston/ Crewe/Milton Keynes depending on where it came from. Possibly also the fact that they're an ex-Intercity TOC and therefore *some* forms of local London/NSE ticket aren't valid. Although on reflection I'm not sure this includes Day Travelcards and BZ tickets (does include freedom passes and network cards). -- John Band john at johnband dot org www.johnband.org |

OK, so Watford is always a pick-up/set-down only stop for Virgin. I wasn't aware of that. Ganesh |

Virgin West Coast do accept travelcards (and boundary zone X extensions) for Milton Keynes and stations north. They don't accept any ticket which would mean boarding at Watford Junction (heading south). They also accept Network Railcard / Goldcards for these. Intercity WC were always a bit more accepting of suburban tickets than some of the other intercity operators. |
