There seems to be far more LM trains using the non suburban platforms. Are
oyster users expected to trek to the suburban platforms to swipe when they arrive or before they depart. The 16.54 was shown as departing from platform 12 and the stock only arrived a couple of minutes before. If an oyster user gave up waiting and went back to get the 17.04 would they get an unresolved journey when they swiped in again. Kevin |

Kevin There are Oyster readers accessible from platforms 16 - 18 at least, and maybe others. However, a far greater problem is Virgin's refusal to accept extensions to period travelcards which happen to be stored on Oyster, despite these being valid NR ticket combinations. There seems to be a systematic fraud going on there. |

Kevin There are Oyster readers accessible from platforms 16 - 18 at least, and maybe others. Only platforms 16-18 (over and above 8-11) so far. Apparently Network Rail are going to fit them to the entrances to the other platforms, but London Midland couldn't give me a timescale when I asked. However, a far greater problem is Virgin's refusal to accept extensions to period travelcards which happen to be stored on Oyster, despite these being valid NR ticket combinations. *There seems to be a systematic fraud going on there. If you've been refused with such a combination, then I would complain. There is nothing in the ticketing rules (that I can find) that say a travelcard with extension to Milton Keynes (or points north) isn't valid on Virgin Trains. I've used such tickets with paper period travelcard and an Oyster Goldcard Travelcard. It is the responsibility of the TOC to have the equipment to check for a travelcard on Oyster, not the responsibility of the passenger. |
