Thank you very much for trying to explain to me yesterday ( Saturday
11th April) that the z2-6 cap does not exist for National Railcard holders. I respect the fact that you have been in ticketing for 10 years but your sources of information seem incorrect. As I stated to you yesterday in previous years I have benefited from the z2-6 cap and it was not "luck" or "system error" that I received this cap. Oyster does allow for this cap. I include details. http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tickets/faresa...ares/6769.aspx Key points from above : Holders of the following National Rail Railcards can benefit from discounted daily price capping: * Disabled Persons * HM Forces * Senior * 16-25 Railcard : Journeys in zones: Peak Off Peak Zones 1-2 £6.70 £3.35 Zones 1-3 £8.10 £3.80 Zones 1-4 £9.50 £3.80 Zones 1-5 £12.10 £4.60 Zones 1-6 £14.30 £4.60 Zones 1-9 £15.70 £5.60 Zones 1-8 + Watford Junction £17.50 £8.55 Zone 2 £6.70 £3.00 Zones 2-3 £8.10 £3.00 Zones 2-6 £8.50 £3.00 Zones 2-9 £10.10 £3.35 Zones 2-8 + Watford Junction £12.10 £4.65 As you can see there is a z2-6 Off Peak cap of £3.00 for NR Railcard holders. I suggest that you raise a point with your superiors as it seems their training process is not as thorough as it should be. Also I am very surprised that having worked in ticketing for 10 years that you thought Shepherds Bush was a Z1 station where in fact it is a Z2 station. ;-) Happy Easter uc |

You already know how the rules work and that you will receive the cap. The cap is applied automatically by the oyster system and is nothing to do with the ticket office. Unless you like going around asking silly questions and then annoying the staff when they dont know the right answer. |

I shall explain. I had a query when I exited at Wanstead station regarding an incorrect fare which was deducted from my Oyster card. As a result of this error a cap was not applied. When I politely asked ticket staff to enlighten me on this matter and check my oyster usage and give me a print out I was aggressively challenged wrt z2-6 cap not existing for NRC Holders and the only cap that could be applied was for z1-6 when travel reached £4.60. I kindly said that I was not here for an argument and merely wanted to know why z2-6 cap was not applied, whereupon I was met with a torrent of fearsome replies stating that z2-6 cap did not exist. When I said that I had been getting the cap for close to two years I was told that I should not have been and that I was "lucky" because there had been a system error. I was then handed the "TFL Oyster guide to fares" pamphlet by ticket staff ( infront of waiting customers) to try to find the NRcard discount info. which states that a z2-6 NRC cap exists. Unfortunately, this info is not printed in the pamphlet and can only be found online ( which I did explain to ticket staff). The gloating staff then proceeded to taunt me infront of customers by saying , "See you can't find it can you, because it doesn't exist. I've been working in tickets offices for 10 years I know this and that etc etc etc ..." The whole spectacle was carried out in public and hence, I did find it quite offensive, belittling and somewhat humiliating as I'm sure many people would. |

Apr 2009, Michael R N Dolbear remarked: You could have taken the copy of the January 2008 or September 2008 editions that I am sure you possess. Or a printout from the website of course. Is it really necessary to carry copies of such publications whenever travelling by train, just in case you meet a poorly educated member of staff? -- Roland Perry |
