If they aren't going to be used for three years, they should perhaps have removed a fuse or something. AIUI they're removing (non-heritage) clocks from platform level with immediate effect, because the new dot-matrixes have one built in, and it'd be a bit rubbish to not have a clock at platform level. Again, in a heavily H&S regulated environment where you can't just unplug fixtures and stick some plastic padding in the screw-holes, it's a lot easier to run the "install dot-matrix wiring, install dot- matrix, remove clocks, de-activate clock wiring" project across all refurbs, rather than sending in clock-removing electricians, plasterers, etc when the screens are switched over. -- John Band john at johnband dot org www.johnband.org |
