The last train to leave was a "Connex" service to Watford Junction according to the automated tannoy. The Connex Electrostars also haven't been programmed with the station location yet, so it takes three minutes to open the doors. U Can't they just override the computer, allowing the driver to manually open the doors? |

B2003 Isn't it the process of overriding that takes so long? It probably requires written permission from the Queen or something. |

B2003 So, that means no? As has been said elsewhere, that is what is done, and it takes three minutes. |

wibbled on Tuesday 29 September 2009 00:51 So if the train was on fire, it might take three minutes to open the doors? No - you'd pull the green emergency release handle by each door. Like I said in another post in this thread: "When Electrostars were first introduced from Kent to London CHX, the GPS reception used to quite often fade at CHX, so it was either a case of waiting or yanking the green handle (usually on the driver's say so, leaving the station fitter or whoever to sort out the mess while the driver went off for a cuppa)." -- Tim Watts This space intentionally left blank... |

Obviously breaking a window and climbing out over broken glass is obviously much safer than simply jumping out of the doors. B2003 |
