It is some time since I had the opportunity to observe one (and Google
doesn't seem to help ATM) but hiding such a device would seem to
defeat the purpose for which it was fitted. IIRC on e.g. a 313 (spit!)
they are above the doors out of the reach of little kiddies behind a
plastic/glass cover which has to be broken to get at them.

On 377s the release is a green handle to the left of the door, behind a
flimsy plastic flap. You don't have to break anything to operate it (I've
done it once or twice).

Am there right now. The last train to leave was a "Connex" service to
Watford Junction according to the automated tannoy. The Connex
Electrostars also haven't been programmed with the station location
yet, so it takes three minutes to open the doors.

I noticed on the NLL the other night that platform describers said
services would be stopping at Willesden Junction, SPB, Kensington
Olympia, West Brompton, IMW, and Clapham Junction. Looks like they
need to do a bit of programming there too...
