You can combine a travelcard with a boundary zone ticket (with a choice of routing options that include 'any permitted'). This should even work with a day travelcard without the requirement for the train to call at a boundary zone station (e.g. Gatwock Express) because boundary zone tix are considered to be zonal tix. The Gatwick and Heathrow expresses are exceptions to this rule. -- David Cantrell | Bourgeois reactionary pig "Cynical" is a word used by the naive to describe the experienced. There are two separate tickets from Boundary Zone 6 to Gatwick Airport, one rte NOT GATWICK EXP and one rte ANY PERMITTED. As long as you buy the any permitted ticket you can use it on the Gatwick Express with a Travelcard. Peter Smyth |

I wonder when it changed then, cos last time I tried to buy such a ticket, I couldn't. Oh, wait, I wanted boundary zone *4* to Gatwick, is it only available from 6? -- David Cantrell | Official London Perl Mongers Bad Influence Irregular English: ladies glow; gentlemen perspire; brutes, oafs and athletes sweat |

The fares listed in The Manual from boundary zones to Gatwick are BOUNDARY ZONE 2 or 3 CDR 10.00 NOT GATWICK EXP, 18.60 ANY PERMITTED SDR 13.60 NOT GATWICK EXP, 26.20 ANY PERMITTED BOUNDARY ZONE 4 or 5 CDR 7.50 ANY PERMITTED SDR 11.20 ANY PERMITTED BOUNDARY ZONE 6 CDR 6.90 NOT GATWICK EXP, 6.80 ANY PERMITTED SDR 9.50 NOT GATWICK EXP, 9.30 ANY PERMITTED The fares for zone 2/3 are about what I would expect but something seems to have gone wrong with the fares for zones 4-6. So I am not sure whether it is actually possible to buy a 6.80 Any Permitted CDR from BZ6 to Gatwick or not. Peter Smyth |

Why? They are in the same ball-park as the equivalent fares from East Croydon (zone 5) to Gatwick. DAS |
