Allegedly Circle Line trains leaving Hammersmith are supposed to display 'Circle Line via Aldgate' until Liverpool St followed by 'Circle Line to Edgware Rd.' Yes, but I think [at least] in theory at Edgware Rd there have also been corresponding changes to the platform signage. The cunning plan is supposed to be that the 4 platforms have 4 separate destinations marked up. Another subject about which there is some doubt of course... Paul S |

I thought the same thing as you, although on reflection the existing situation where trains in both directions read "Circle" wasn't much better. -- We are the Strasbourg. Referendum is futile. |

Except that the two kinds of Circle used mutually exclusive sets of platforms. This won't be the case in future. It will be trains on either side of the same island platform, from both of which trains have been known to depart for Baker Street. |

Hammersmith via Paddington is provided for H&C use apparently. District Dave's forum has a post with the full new blind listing, and various comments suggestng that LU haven't actually told the staff what they want them to do yet. I always assumed it was "Hammersmith via Shepherds Bush" because (east of Edgware Road) Hammersmith via High St Ken is at least theoretically possible. |

If TfL weren't so bloody prissy about such things, might it have been a good time to install LED blinds which could have changed themselves at the same time as the announcements that currently (until today, at least) say things like "This is a Circle Line train via Liverpool St and Paddington"? I think the "prissiness" only applies to buses, as several varieties of LU stock have LED destination displays. It's probably just the cost (particularly as the C Stock will be scrapped in a few years anyway). |

And let's be grateful that LU generally always provides displays, unlike NR (like the considerably younger 465/9s that went through a whole refurbishment programme, installing extra toilets, first class accommodation etc, but were still left without any destination displays). |
